Web cam suicide accused sentenced to 30 days

Dharun Ravi, who in March was found guilty of using a web cam to spy on his roommate, has been sentenced to 30 days in prison. Ravi twice used a web cam to spy on his roommate Tyler Clementi having sex. Clementi killed himself days after discovering what had happened. The case raised high profile discussions about cyberbullying and hate crime.

Clementi’s family were upset by the sentence Ravi received – which could have been as high as 10 years – and said they would appeal.
