8 Levels of Security in the Data Centre (diagram)

Server room

This fantastic diagram from the guys over at the Wikibon blog should really help ITGS students understand different aspects of information technology security in the data centre.

As you can see, the diagram shows how physical measures such as guards and locks, technological measures such as biometric authentication and firewalls, and social aspects such as user education and acceptable use policies, are all needed to secure an organisation and its data. All areas of the ITGS triangle covered – perfect!

I think this could be very useful in a lesson to discuss the types of threat an organisation faces (natural disasters, malware, insider data leaks) and how they can be addressed.
