ESRI, a leading producer of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), has some interesting examples on their web site which can be very useful for ITGS lessons. Remember that a GIS is a combination of a digital mapping system with data layers which is used to make decisions. They are part of the Environment topic in strand 2 of the ITGS triangle.
The examples from ESRI include maps covering political, socio-economic, and geographic data. It is well worth visiting the site to see examples of GIS in action.
In previous posts I have written about using Google Earth Pro as a free GIS. My ITGS textbook support website also has some longer tasks related to using GIS in the ITGS classroom.
