App to Track Teenager’s Driving Habits

AT&T have created a system which they hope will help improve driving standards among teenagers by reducing mobile phone use while driving. The system monitors and reports on behaviour in real time and allows parents (or others) to view it remotely. The system works through a combination of special hardware which plugs into a car’s electronic diagnostic port (found on most modern vehicles) and a mobile phone app which reports its use. This data is then combined to show if the phone is being used while driving, and checked against other data such as the speed limits for the road being used.

Alerts about driving standards can be sent to parents via SMS.
